About the Event

Join Kemptville Campus in partnership with North Grenville's Indigenous Advisory Circle and On The Bend Sugar Shack for a ceremonial first tapping of the maples.

Annual tree-tapping ceremonies are held across North America and mark the beginning of the annual harvest of maple sap. Once discovered, maple sap was traditionally used for food, medicine, and other purposes. The sweet water has been developed into many products beyond syrup which we still use today!

Everyone is welcome to join in this ceremony at the Kemptville Campus Greenhouse (75 Campus Drive) at 10:00 a.m., where you'll enjoy the ceremony and learn about the history of syrup collection!
