Why I joined the NG board: 

I joined the board because I'm passionate about supporting our community through education and advocacy. I'd like to take a hand in shaping the change that I and others needed when we were growing up in this community. I believe a life of service is life well lived.

 

Fun Fact:

I love to make things and work with my hands. From knitting to carpentry, and crafting. I fill much of my free time with working on and building motorcycles. Possibly more time than even riding them.

 

Favourite part of being in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community: 

A shared passion for celebrating the rights we've gained while still advocating for equality in our own community and other marginalized communities.

 

If I were a colour of the rainbow, I’d be: 

I have a love for the colour green - it has always represented new opportunities, nature, and a positive outlook to me.

 

My go-to karaoke song: 

Despite my inability to sing in key or hold a note, my go-to Karaoke song will always be Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond.

Why I joined the NG board: 

When one of my grandchildren was transitioning, they relied on me for information and support. At the same time, NG Pride was reaching out for potential Board members. I have experience on seven Boards and knew mentorship skills were my strength. Timing is everything. I am SO happy to be a part of NG Pride.

 

Fun Fact:

Thirty years ago, I became Mother Earth. I have built and maintained over 3 acres of gardens. They helped balance the stress of my job and continue to enhance the wonderful meals that grace our table.

This is a community of joy & authenticity 

 

If I were a colour of the rainbow, I’d be: 

Orange!!! You can't miss me in a crowd and I'm often unexpected

Why I joined the NG board: 

What most excited me is the chance to use my lived experience as a queer woman and the skills I gained during my career in social work to help foster/ build a strong, inclusive and safe queer community along with my fellow 2SLGBTQIA+ family and allies.

 

Fun Fact:

I was the singer of an all femme punk band and played shows with a handful of legendary punk rockers. 

 

Favourite part of being in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community: 

Being able to be my true authentic queer, neurospicy, silly self.

 

If I were a colour of the rainbow, I’d be: 

All of them, I am part unicorn ​

Why I joined the NG board: 

To promote our amazing “We All BeloNG” 2SLGBTQI+ Inclusion community training program. Our goal to increase awareness and educate the public on our special and important community and how we can all belong and get along.

 

Fun Fact:

I jumped off a mountain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to impress my now husband. It was on a hang glider and realized mid-flight that my guide didn't mention how we land. It turns out you just spin around in the air until you hit the beach. 

 

Favourite part of being in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community: 

Our unique human perspective on gender, relationships, and how to live a good life and how just by existing we challenge the status quo. 

 

If I were a colour of the rainbow, I’d be: 

I'd be blue because it matches Superman's costume, and he was my first superhero crush as a kid

 

My go-to karaoke song: 

Barbie Girl, for sure! 

Why I joined the NG board: 

 I want to build a more inclusive society for our children and future generations. I want to educate and advocate for our community and share our truth to debunk fear-mongering myths and information.

 

Fun Fact:

I went to college for musical theatre and then police foundations but made a career for myself as an event planner/manager for almost 15 years.

 

Favourite part of being in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community: 

Being authentically me without judgement.

 

If I were a colour of the rainbow, I’d be: 

Purple as it is my favourite colour but it does mean royalty, ambition and creativity (which I love being creative)
